Today, we got a good opportunity to represent Techno Cottage Nepal at “Online Fundraising Workshop for Small to Medium-sized NGOs” organized by GlobalGiving and The Mountain Fund. The whole workshop lasted for around four hours at Environmental Camps for Conservation Awareness (ECCA), Wise-use House, Jwagol, Kupondol, Lalitpur, Nepal.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We met with representatives from many other local NGOs and got to learn more about them and their program. We also met the representatives from GlobalGiving, an organization based in USA that helps NGOs around the world fulfill their objectives by providing a platform to gather funds and donations (both cash and kind). The GlobalGiving representatives who conducted the whole workshop were Ellen Currin and Shari Davis. The program was targeted to all kinds of small and medium sized NGOs from Nepal. Not only was the workshop more fruitful to organization like ours which is looking forward to bring donations and charity from people or organization abroad in order to successfully complete our projects, but also was for NGOs that are based in villages and collect money in the community to complete their projects. Through this workshop we found out that it is actually possible to bring in such monetary help or support from developed countries and organizations abroad. And, GlobalGiving is a perfect gateway to such help and support. It helps in mobilizing the funds that donators donate for a program/project listed at their website by sending them to global NGOs.
According to GlobalGiving’s website – “GlobalGiving is a charity fundraising web site that gives social entrepreneurs and non-profits from anywhere in the world a chance to raise the money that they need to improve their communities.”
