Feasibility Study at Pokhara, Kaski

In June of 2012, our friend, Sanjay Shanti Subedi, at Kaski got a wonderful opportunity to do a feasibility study of one of the schools in Pokhara. Shree Janakalyan Uchcha Madhyamik Bidhyalaya is situated 25 kilometers away from the Prithivi Highway in rural Makaikhola-8, Bhachok, Kaski.

The details/data of the study is as follows:

School’s Name: Shree Janakalyan Uchcha Madhyamik Bidhyalaya

There are currently 425 numbers of students, including students from Class XI and XII. Students in Class XI and XII have around 40 students. The total number of staffs present in the school is 18, with 17 teaching staffs and 1 non-teaching staff.
The total area of the school is 15 Ropanies with good infrastructures in classroom and restrooms. The school has only three computers which is used more by the staffs but is also used by Class XI and XII students as they have an informal computer studies class (extra class). These computers are set up in a separate room with a small cupboard full of books (they call it their library). The computer teacher has a C. Ed., Diploma in Computer Studies and he takes care of the computers (from maintenance to person in charge).

Average Pass Percentage:

SLC (School Leaving Certificate) of 2068 batch: 98%

+2 of 2068 batch: 71%

The school can start the formal Computer Studies initially in the lower secondary level and then up to Classes XI and XII by adding some more infrastructures in computer lab and by recruiting more qualified teachers. By establishing a sufficient number of computers they can easily add computer education in their course curriculum.
